Lahore Qalandars 199 for 6 (Fakhar 53, Haseebullah 40, Hassan 2-30) beat Hyderabad Kingsmen 130 (Labuschagne 26, Rauf 2-22, Ubaid 2-27, Raza 2-27) by 69 runs 

Lahore Qalandars defeated debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by 69 runs to begin their perfect defense of the PSL championship. The Qalandars performed well with both bat and ball in the tournament's opening match. They reached 199 thanks to a half-century from Fakhar Zaman and several supporting cameos, but a weak Kingsmen team was no match in the chase. Marnus Labuschagne's team was dismissed for 130 by five different wicket-takers as the Qalandars showcased their impressive abilities.

Shaheen Afridi chose to bat first following a condensed opening ceremony in front of empty stands after the PSL decided against fan participation due to a fuel conservation push in the wake of the West Asia crisis.
