Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, 20th Match, Indian Premier League 2026
RCB with their batting might had enough for MI tonight. After a loss to RR in the last game, RCB are back to winning ways. Three losses in a row for MI who have work to do. It's time to leave for the night. It's been a long night due to the time taken to complete the game. This is Nikhil Jadhav signing off on behalf of Pradeep Krishnamurthy and our diligent scorer Siva. Bye bye.
Phil Salt | Player of the Match: (on getting out first ball last match and then tonight) "Honestly, Doully, I've got no idea myself. There's a few highs and a lot of lows, and you can't ride both of them. Just stay as even as you can, and I'm just pleased I could come out and put a performance in for the lads. Yeah, I'd say so (on his batting philosophy). Some of these grounds aren't the most bowler-friendly, so you've got to keep the mentality that you're going to keep going at the opposition. And then not forget your assets as a player. It's about being a match-winner, isn't it? I know I can't get runs every game, nobody can. But if I can be as impactful as possible, then I'm on the right path. Yeah, really well (on RCB's batting). And to be honest, we probably had a few more in the tank. I think, in the second ten of our innings, they actually shut us down quite nicely at times. So, promising signs for us as a batting unit. I think they bowled well then."
Rajat Patidar | RCB captain: "Feel amazing.I think, whenever we come here in Mumbai, especially at this ground, the atmosphere, the fans, and playing along with them and playing in the full-packed stadium - that's a different feeling. (fearless nature of their batting) It was, I would say it's a more clarity about the every individual, I would say (on the strong batting). And the way Virat bhai and Salt started the innings, I think that kept us in the driving seat. Then a good cameo by me and Tim (David), I think that was a pure team efforts I would say. (have you worked playing against the pacers?) To be honest, people used to say that I love playing spin, but if someone asks me, I would say I love playing fast bowling. And playing fast bowlers on this track, I think it's a very good track to play a fast bowler. So I think I love (facing) fast bowling. (on Kohli's injury) I don't know yet, but I think he, I feel that he's okay right now."
Suyash Sharma (translated from Hindi): I was just thinking that I need to take wickets. Because in a long chase, you’re going to get hit anyway. But my belief was that on this wicket, the ball will turn. So my plan was to hit the stumps as much as possible, that’s where I would benefit. I was bowling to take wickets, not just to bowl dot balls. (you always think about wickets) Sometimes it also depends on the situation. If we had fewer runs on the board, maybe I wouldn’t have gone all-out for wickets, I would’ve focused on conceding fewer runs. But this time we had a lot of runs, so I thought I should go for wickets aggressively. (on dismissing both left-handers) My plan was simple, to bowl in their blockhole area. Both of them play well outside, so I just wanted to target the stumps. Then we will see what happens.
Hardik Pandya | MI captain: "Yes (lost too many wickets) and at the same point of time, I think we conceded way too many (runs) as well. (too many big overs while bowling) I think that was always going to be catch-up. I think in the last couple of games, as a bowling unit or even as a batting unit, we’ve been quite catching up in the game rather than leading the game. We really need to reflect, really need to see what best we can do and how we can get that momentum and that click which we require. We have a couple of days off from here and we will play again. (bat second the way to go here?) To be very honest, now a lot of things needs to be rethink. Definitely, it’s not working. Couple of games we have won the toss, but maybe we need to see what other options we have as a batting group or bowling group. Looking at the kind of wicket it’s playing, if we can bat as well, that would be good. We still need to play cricket, we still need to bat well, we still need to bowl well. And if we do that, then irrespective of the toss (we will be fine). (on their plans during their bowling powerlay) That’s what we are planning and talking about, how do we get some momentum in powerplay. Because if you see, in both batting and bowling, we are kind of trying to catch up in the powerplay. As you said, a lot of options will be asked and thrown. We will see what we can do in the next game. (on Rutherford) Yes. When we got him (Rutherford), it was always exciting for us. We always knew the kind of potential and the kind of power he has. The way he batted it just gives us extra cushion and at the same point of time confidence that if we want to make some changes or we want to see what this team requires, we can definitely do it because the way he’s batting."

23:52 Local Time, 18:22 GMT, 23:52 IST: Well we have had a finish finally at the Wankhede. It has taken long but the game is done. Multiple breaks not helping at all. The over-rate too very poor. RCB with their third win in 4 games as the two Guyanese - Romario Shepherd and Sherfane Rutherford share hugs with smiles on their faces. Hardik pats Patidar on the chest while Kohli hugs Sachin Tendulkar. A target of 241 was going to test this strong MI batting lineup. Rohit went off with a problem with his hammy and Rickelton struggled after a fast start. Tilak fell early and the run-rate skyrocketed. Hardik tried to muscle his way with sixes but it was a mountain too high to climb and once he fell it was almost the end for MI. Rutherford though kept on attacking and made a 31-ball 71 but RCB had enough in the bank to win comfortably. Rasikh, Suyash and Krunal's overs earlier in the game piled the pressure on MI who never recovered from that. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff....

Romario Shepherd to Sherfane Rutherford, SIX, Romario Shepherd escapes by the narrowest of margins. A waist-high full-toss and Sherfane Rutherford has swung this flat over deep backward square-leg. All the way. He then reviews and his waist is measured at 1m and this ball has passed him at 0.97m
Sherfane Rutherford is reviewing a waist-high full-toss. This has gone for six. But Rutherford wants a no-ball. Not a no-ball.
Rasikh had the ball, but then RCB change their mind. He was off the field and the fourth ump tells the RCB camp that Rasikh can't bowl. So Romario it will be.

15.6
Romario Shepherd to Sherfane Rutherford, no ball, Guyanese gets Guyanese. But wait. It's a front foot no-ball. And a good catch too. All that doesn't matter. Full on leg-stump, Sherfane Rutherford flicks and the top-edge goes straight up. Was a tough catch but Romario Shepherd went after that and took it near mid-wicket with both hands. Then the celebrations are muted as the buzzer goes off signalling a no-ball
Romario Shepherd, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack
Rasikh Salam Dar is down. Again cramps. Jitesh Sharma and Patidar helping Rasikh in stretching his left leg. The physio out there. The fourth ump having a look at the RCB dugout. Andy Flower, the head coach is up from his seat. And now Rasikh off the field. The right call in my opinion.

It's short of length and just outside off, Naman Dhir is rushed as he tries to mow across the line, the ball flies off the outer half and a simple catch to extra-cover. The task gets harder for MI. The physio is out there. He is working on Rasikh Salam Dar's left leg. Another break in play. The over-rate has been appalling to say the least today. Not helped by these breaks. The heat and humidity playing a huge part.

Rasikh Salam Dar to Sherfane Rutherford, SIX, Rasikh Salam Dar is again down. He is in trouble. He is calling for help. Cramps again. A slower-ball and into the surface outside off, sits up and Sherfane Rutherford has mowed this miles over deep mid-wicket
Now Rasikh pulls up. The physio is out there. Another break in play. Some pickle juice. Timeout taken! This looks out of reach of the Mumbai Indians now. Unless they produce something miraculous, RCB will claim their 3rd win of the season from four games.
What makes Wankhede a high scoring ground?
